Mission

As a citizen of Edmonds, I believe it is important to give back to your community, and public service is one way to do that. My wife, Maria, and I feel very fortunate to have our home and business in Edmonds and we want to do what we can to make our city a wonderful place to live and work. I am on the record on the issues that matter to Edmonds' citizens and it is time for Edmonds to look ahead and protect its future.

I believe many important decisions are made at the local level that affect people’s day to day lives. From police and fire, to roads and sidewalks, to open space and the environment, it is up to the City Council to ensure open and transparent governance. Creating a transparent, productive, and effective city government gives citizens a better sense of how their tax money is being used, how they can be better involved, and creates a more cooperative environment for all involved.

My priorities:

  1. Economic Development Through Cost-Effective and Realistic Approaches. Economic development is more than a catch-phrase. It takes targeted programs and dogged determination to diversify and strengthen our City's economy.
    • Maintaining the outstanding events that bring tens of thousands of visitors to Edmonds every year to generate tax revenues for the City. As a member of DEMA and the Chamber of Commerce, I am actively involved in ensuring the success of the 4th of July Parade and celebration, Halloween in Edmonds, the Holiday Tree Lighting, the Edmonds Car Show, and many more.
    • Strengthening the business community throughout Edmonds, not just in downtown. Edmonds politics have too long focused on the downtown core and not on the 40,000+ residents that make up our community.
    • I am committed to establishing Edmonds as a leader in the growing Green Economy. Edmonds can establish itself as a truly progressive base for rapidly-growing green businesses and a green zone for visitors.
    • I am NOT in favor of a B&O tax on our Edmonds' businesses. Edmonds can continue to attract quality businesses to town through effective outreach and efficient and open City government.
  2. Environmental and Economic Sustainability. Edmonds needs to be sustainable from an economic and environmental perspective. The community that we love is special because of the environment we live in. We must protect it through a city-wide commitment to the environment.
    • I am proud to be endorsed by Bob and Janice Freeman, founders of Sustainable Edmonds.
    • My wife and I received certification from the National Wildlife Federal for a Backyard Wildlife Habitat through the Edmonds Backyard Wildlife Habitat program.
  3. Responsible Government that Works. In order for Edmonds to remain a thriving and virbrant community, the City Council needs to be an effective, responsible, and respectful entity, working in partnership with the residents, businesses, and City staff.

I am pro-Edmonds and have faith in our residents and community. Edmonds is a community I am proud to live and work in, and I believe in our future. I work with all members of the community, City staff, and other stakeholders to fight to maintain the Edmonds we love.
